Taking place on 18th and 19th October, 2025, Heywood Literary Festival will be headlined by the 2024 Booker Prize Winner Samantha Harvey, and one of the world’s greatest science writers, evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins. We’re also very excited to have master stonemason Andrew Ziminski join us, talking about his book Church Going: a stonemason’s guide to the churches of the British Isles. We’re delighted to have Chris Blackhurst, former editor of The Independent, joining us again because he was just so good last year ! This time he’s talking about his corruption classic Too Big to Jail: HSBC and the banking scandal of the century.
Previous guests have included renowned authors such as Dan Jones, acclaimed for his captivating historical narratives, and Tim Marshall, whose expert insights into geopolitics have reshaped our understanding of the modern world.
Unlike larger festivals, Heywood Literary Festival offers an intimate setting that fosters meaningful connections between authors and attendees. Guests can participate in thought-provoking panel discussions, engaging Q&A sessions, and immersive readings, all within the elegant interiors and serene gardens of Heywood House. The festival’s boutique nature ensures a warm, welcoming atmosphere where literary enthusiasts can share ideas and build connections.
