
Romeo and Juliet outdoor theatre will kickstart events at Heywood House this September, with a two-day Literary Festival set to put the estate firmly on the events map the week after. Heywood House Talks – Literary Festival will welcome the renowned historian Dan Jones, Sunday Times Bestseller Tim Marshall and internet sensation, satirist Rosie Holt on September 7th and 8th, with a total of seven internationally renowned speakers bringing ideas, stories and comedy to West Wiltshire.

‘We’re so excited to bring some of the world’s leading writers on geopolitics, mental health, history, Shakespeare, Manchester United, and business to Heywood House,’ said Captain Events’ director Kate Smith. ‘We are going to offer a pretty unique Saturday ticket that incorporates talks on modern American society, the future of geography in Space and then award winning satire. All rounded out with a delicious lunch included,’ she added.


On Sunday, the final talk of four will be Dan Jones, the Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author of many non-fiction books, including The Plantagenets, The Templars, and Powers and Thrones. He is a renowned writer, broadcaster and journalist and has presented dozens of TV shows, including the Netflix series Secrets of Great British Castles, and writes and hosts the podcast This is History.
Westbury and the surrounding area is fast becoming the epicentre of events not just in West Wiltshire but in the whole county, with The White Horse Soapbox Derby and the Donkey Derby already setting the tone for a summer that will include also the Westbury Festival, The Lions Classic Car Show and the White Horse Military Show.
